At first glance, you’d think this was a standard Photoshopped image but this is actually the clever work of Spanish street-art collective Boamistura. With words like BELEZA, AMOR, FIRMEZA, ORGULHO, that can only be made out when standing in a certain position, the collective bring colour and expression to the favela’s once drab walls.
Certainly, the Brazilian favelas have had their share of vibrant makeovers in the past with Dutch artists Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn’s “favela painting” project a few years back and French artist JR’s giant poster campaign, featured in this blog.
